Coming off their last project Sparkle, lovebirds Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil has just inked a new deal with Paramount Pictures for their lastest ambition entitled, Abandonment Issues.
Deadine reports, that Mara Brock Akil will write the script and Salim Akil will direct. The duo will collectively produce the project.
The couple has experience some major success with their debut feature, Jumping The Broom, which took the top spot in the box office its first weekend by grossing over $40 million domestically. In addition to that, the pair created the TV dramady, The Game, which originated on CW, but then aired on BET. The Game developed a cult following, engaging 7.7 million viewers for its last season premiere.
The couple has an overall development deal with BET to create scripted programs. As a result, Being Mary Jane, starring Gabriele Union, is the latest production that the Akil family made for the network.
