That’s the lesson talk show host Piers Morgan discovered when he deigned to have an opinion about Rihanna’s new hairstyle.
On Sunday night, Rihanna performed during the closing ceremony for the Paralympic Games in London at the 80,000-seat Olympic Stadium in East London. The ceremony honored 4,200 Paralympians from 164 nations. Rihanna appeared with Coldplay on the song “Princess of China.” Morgan decided her hair was too short and decided to go to Twitter to tell the world about his opinion.
“I think @Rihanna needs to grow her hair back. Fast.”
What did he do that for?
Rihanna had a quick, abrupt, profane response, using the kind of language we’ve come to expect from her:
“Grow a dick….. FAST!!!!”
But Morgan, a former newspaper in the British tabloid wars, saw an opening and moved in. He asked Rihanna if she’d like to be interviewed on his show, “Piers Morgan Tonight.”
“haaaa! Only if it’s not about cosmetics! But phuck yea lets do it!!!!!!!!!” Rihanna responded.
Morgan closed out the discussion by adding: “Going to be one hell of an interview now @rihanna – bring your A-game, lady. #CNN”
Always one to make a grand entrance, Rihanna came into the stadium on the back of wooden ship that made its way through the athletes watching beside the stage.
She would later perform her smash hit collaboration with Calvin Harris, ‘We Found Love’, from a bench high above the ground in the stadium.
“Being at the Paralympics is the biggest honor,” she said. “These athletes are gladiators and are a true inspiration to me.”
Rihanna was all over the news yesterday because she memorialized her with a large tattoo of the goddess Isis across her chest, just below her breasts.
The “What’s My Name” singer posted the picture of her new inkings on Instagram, using her hands to cover her breasts—showing a rare bit of Rihanna modesty. The wings of the kneeling Egyptian goddess can be seen spreading across Rihanna’s rib cage.
Alongside the picture, Rihanna wrote: “Goddess Isis – Complete Woman – Model for future generations – #GRANGRANDOLLY – always in and on my heart #1love”
