Rihanna Tells Oprah She Still Loves Chris Brown

For all those wondering how Rihanna feels about Chris Brown these days, the diva provided an answer last night in her interview with Oprah Winfrey: They are still in love.

Oh, and one more thing: They did hook up in St. Tropez.

”We’ve been working on our friendship, again. Now, we’re very, very close friends. We built a trust again and that’s it,” she said during her much-anticipated interview on “Oprah’s Next Chapter.”

Trust is probably a word many domestic abuse experts will have a hard time reconciling for a couple where the man sent his beloved to the hospital in 2009 because he beat her up, but Rihanna struggled to explain the special bond the two of them have.

“We love each other and we probably always will,” she said in the interview that took place in her native land of Barbados. “And that’s not anything that we’re gonna try to change. It’s not something you can shut off if you’ve ever been in love.”

There has been rampant speculation about the two of them hooking up again over the summer in the French Riviera. Sources said they got together on a ridiculously expensive yacht that Brown had rented on the Mediterranean Sea and that Brown even ditched his girlfriend Karrueche Tran to be with Rihanna. But after those reports surfaced, there was a round of denials by Brown sources and spokespersons—one who described Tran as “calm as f*ck.”

But after all the denials, Rihanna admitted to Oprah that they did indeed reunite in St. Tropez.

“It’s awkward because I still love him,” she said of seeing Brown again. “My stomach drops, and I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me.”

When Winfrey asked if Brown was a true love her for her, Rihanna responded, “Absolutely. I think that he was the love of my life. He was my first love and I see that he loved me the same way.”

Brown pled guilty to assaulting Rihanna, his then girlfriend, in a 2009 incident and was sentenced to community service and probation.
