If Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson has anyone left in his corner it’s his 14-year old daughter Jicyra Johnson. In the span of one week the wide receiver spent a night in jail, lost his job, an endorsement and his wife but through it all his family and children remain in his corner.
While children are often shielded from the private issues of the adults in their lives it’s clear that Chad’s eldest daughter took a liking to her stepmother and vice versa.
On the night of Chad and Evelyn’s wedding Jicyra tweeted;
“I thank god he met you.. happiest day of life , just because I know you’ll be here forever. I love you Evelyn!”
After the incident Jicrya’s tone remained the same even retweeting a message from one of her followers,
“@Jicyraa_Carter please tell (your) dad and step-mom to work it out….They don’t have to get a divorce.”
She later added,
“(SIC) Regardless (of) what (happened) this weekend I will and still love me, my dad and Evelyn, and I always will.”
Jicrya also played a role in helping Evelyn tone down her aggressive demeanor. After a Basketball Wives boycott went into effect Ev wrote an open letter to her 17-year old self. She said in part,
“It’ll take the moment when you see and hear your future step-daughters pretending to be ‘you’ after watching you behave badly on T.V., that you’ll actually feel real shame.”
Despite her plea it’s unlikely Chad and Evelyn’s divorce won’t move forward. According to one source there is no turning back.
“Chad has been tearfully calling and texting Ev, pouring his heart out to her and telling how sorry he is and how he has never loved anyone before as he loves her. But, it’s just too little too late. She was desperately in love with him and ignored a lot of warning signs along the way, but now that she has finally woken up, she will not be taking any steps back and will not go back to him.”
