After cheating on Twilight costar, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart may have lost her Snow White And The Huntsman job. According to a report by the Hollywood Reporter, Universal had planned to make two films centered on Stewart’s Snow White character before creating a spinoff that featured the Huntsman. Now the studio has reportedly decided to can the second Snow White film and proceed forward with a Huntsman spinoff, where Chris Hemsworth is expected to reprise his title role.
The news comes after Stewart publicly apologized for cheating on Pattinson with Snow White And The Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. It has not been made clear if Universal’s decision had anything to do with the Stewart-Sanders scandal, but it’s unusual for a studio to dump a lead actor between the first and second installment of a franchise.
Sanders status as director for the spinoff has not been made public, but the Hollywood Reporter suggests it is likely the director would be Universal’s first choice. On the other hand, contradicting reports claim Stewart’s future as Snow White is still a possibility. The L.A. Times reports that although Universal will proceed with a Huntsman spinoff, Stewart’s Snow White could still be a character in the film “despite reports that suggested otherwise.”
