Last year Nicki Minaj signed with OPI to launch six limited edition shades inspired by her colorful style and debut album Pink Friday. The collaboration was a success. Earlier this year he Kardashian sisters, Kim, Khloe and Kourtney also launched their “feminine and flirty” six color limited edition line. Next up? Newly signed American Idol judge Mariah Carey.
“I actually went to beauty school in 11th grade so I could have something to fall back on, so believe me, I’ve done my share of manicures as well as getting them,” revealed Mariah about the deal. “OPI knows that the polish you use makes a big difference not only in the look, but in the care of your nails and that’s why I believe in the brand.”
OPI executive vice president Suzi Weiss-Fischmann explained why they chose the Dreamlover singer, “Nails are part of her personality. I really have always looked for celebrities for whom nails are very important, and it is not something you just Photoshop on a picture. She was very much part of the colour selection.”
Nicki’s polishes had names like “Pink Friday” and “Metallic 4 Life” while Kim K had “Pale By Kim-Parison” and “Lights, Kim-Era, Action!” We can expect Mariah to have names like diva and butterfly – what do you think?
