Now that Jennifer Aniston is engaged to her boyfriend of one year, Justin Theroux, the next step in this ongoing saga that is her love life is to see who will actually make it to the altar first: Aniston or ex-husband Brad Pitt.
Perhaps Aniston, whose breakup with Pitt – and others – have played out in the tabloids, has finally found her man.
“Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage,” Theroux’ representative said to People magazine.
Aniston’s rep also confirmed the engagement. This would be Theroux’s first trip down the aisle, assuming the relationship lasts that long.
The announcement came as rumors ran rampant over the weekend of Pitt finally marrying Angelina Jolie in a French castle – something right out of a movie. However, the wedding did not happen, which also could be right out of a movie.
The speculation is that now that Aniston is engaged, the media and fans are paying special attention to see who says, “I do” first.
In any case, Aniston met Theroux on the set of their movie “Wanderlust” and was first spotted together in May 2011. Predictably in Hollywood, they initially denied being a couple, as if anyone believed them.
“Nothing happened on that movie. … It’s a rumor. It’s the easy rumor, but nothing happened. We were just friends,” Aniston said last year. “I’ve known Justin for a long time. He is really cute [and] he’s a great actor.”
She later dropped that façade. And she claims to be unabashedly happy with Theroux and unable to fully contain her glee.
“Yes, I’m very happy,” Aniston said. “I’m extremely lucky, and I’m extremely happy.”
No word on what Pitt thinks of Aniston’s engagement – yet.
