Dancing isn’t something typically seen at a movie premiere but rapper 50 Cent has never been one to follow rules. 50 Cent stopped to chat with TV personality and former Dancing with the Stars contestant Maria Menounos and she ended up being his dance partner. A giggling Menounos joined the MC for a quick waltz and then they resumed their interview and ended it with a hug. The premiere was for a screening of 50’s newest film, Freelancers, in which he plays the son of a dead cop who joins the police force and ends up going rogue.
He co-stars in the film with Robert De Niro and Forest Whitaker. It will premiere in a limited number of movie theaters on Friday and will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on August 21.
50 Cent, who has always been open about his past troubles with the law, was intrigued by his role as a police officer. “It was exciting. It’s a challenge, but you understand the spectrum, both sides of the coin,” he told XXL. “I went to the firing range with New York City police officers just to see what the exact procedure would be to fire the actual weapons and what their protocol is.”
50 Cent is also good friends with De Niro and Freelancers is the second project they’ve done together. The “Wankster” rapper has managed to pull De Niro out of his comfort zone a few times. “If you remember, on that project [Righteous Kill], I got him to do the cover of Vibe. You don’t really see him doing press like that,” he continued. “We got a chance to talk about things away from the actual entertainment stuff. Now, I developed the kind of relationship with him, where I can call him and see if he’s interested in some of these projects.”
