Idris Elba will get another chance to win an Emmy! This morning “Scandal” actress Kerry Washington and comedian Jimmy Kimmel announced the 2012 Emmy nominees at the television academy’s Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre.
Idris was nominated for Lead Actor in a Mini Series or Movie for “Luther” and with his co-stars as “Luther” was also nominated for Outstanding Mini Series or Movie.
The “Prometheus” actor shared his excitement in a statement released to the Examiner,
“Thank you everyone I’m completely ecstatic for this nomination. It’s a great accomplishment for my team, BBC and as well as myself. I’m currently filming in South Africa but can’t wait to see everyone in September. Also congrats to everyone in my category as well, and a special thank you to the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Cheers!”
Other notable nominees include Don Cheadle for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on “House of Lies.” Perhaps next year we will see Kerry Washington on that list for her addictive new ABC show “Scandal!”
The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on Sunday September 23rd with host Jimmy Kimmel. Good luck to Idris Elba!
