Last week the web world went crazy after Dan Aykroyd spilled the beans about the upcoming movie Ghostbusters 3 receiving a new writer.
While at a Crystal Head Vodka promotional event in Amherst, NY, the Ghostbusters star mentioned that a “new writing staff is working on it now,” also saying “it’s got to be perfect. That’s the whole thing. There’s no point in doing it unless it’s perfect.”
Now that the cat is out the bag, Sony Pictures has made an official announcement revealing that the Men in Black 3 scribe Etan Cohen will rewrite the third edition of the hit ’80s film.
Cohen has a fair track record when it comes to written credits for past films. He contributed to films including Idiocracy, Tropic Thunder, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, and Men in Black III.
Not that the studio has hired a new writer to pen the script, one has to wonder if Bill Murray will join the cast. Murray mentioned while on David Letterman show last month that he will only be involved with Ghostbusters 3 if it’s “a really good script.”
