Usher Family Friend ID’d as Operator of Jetski that Hit Kyle Glover

Family friend Jeffrey S. Hubbard has been identified as the man driving the jetski that ran over 11-year-old Kyle Glover, Usher Raymond’s stepson and Tameka Foster’s son, and a 15-year-old girl in an accident last Friday at Lake Lanier outside Atlanta.

Melissa Cummings of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources tells E! News, “The entire incident in question is under investigation, which includes Mr. Hubbard. We are not currently speculating on what charges might be filed.”

Regardless of whether Hubbard is charged with a crime, the 38-year-old will have to live the rest of his life with the cloud of what happened on the lake last week hanging over his head. In a sense, being charged with a crime right now is probably the least of his worries as the boy is reportedly being kept alive by machines.

According to reports, Usher is broken up by the tragedy, which came amidst a brutal custody battle he’s been engaged in with Foster. But like many people who have experienced tragedy in their lives, suddenly the divorce has probably faded from their list of top priorities.

According to the report obtained by E!Online, the kids were sitting in inner tubes being pulled by a pontoon boat, which is a common recreational activity on the lake. The inner tubes trail behind the boat and are pulled by a rope. The boats can reach speeds high enough for the activity to be fairly thrilling for kids. It doesn’t appear on its face to be very dangerous—but with the 4th of July holiday there was more traffic on the lake than usual and people engaging in various activities packed together too tight.

The report confirms that no alcohol was involved in the accident.

“On 07/06/12, at approximately 1525 hours, a personal watercraft being operated by Jeffrey S. Hubbard ran over 2 juveniles being towed on an inner tube by a pontoon boat,” the report’s description of events stated. “Both children were life-flighted to Egleston Children’s Hospital of Atlanta, one with a serious head injury. This incident occurred in the mouth of Big Creek, Lake Lanier, Hall County.”
