Seemingly the entire world has been chronicling every waking moment of the Kanye West-Kim Kardashian coupling, so last night the entire world finally got a chance to see the two lovebirds in all their reality show glory as Kanye appeared for the first time on an episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
These were the early days of the now famous relationship, so Kim was trying to claim to her family that things were just casual between her and Kanye. But Khloe wasn’t buying it, particularly since Kim was wearing a pair of earrings that said “KW.”
“I think Kim wants to believe that she can take things slow,” Khloe said on the show. “But … you’re wearing K.W. earrings, I know what that stands for.”
Kanye didn’t say a whole lot on this early episode, but something tells us that will change in short order, as the rapper is not known for his reticence. The show is truly a case of reality show “art” imitating life, as the public is given a chance to fully realize every one of its voyeuristic fantasies by watching right before their eyes the early stages, the dawning, of a relationship that we all have been reading about for months. In some ways, the show marked a new stage in the evolution of reality television—it was the coalescing of a tabloid sensation with a reality television phenomenon that is the Kardashians. While we normally must rely on the tabloid newspapers, magazines and Internet sites to feed our appetite for celebrity drama, we now get to see it every week right before out eyes, like a real-life soap opera. In effect, Kim and Kanye have had two or three months of the best TV show advertising money could ever buy—non-stop coverage at the top of celebrity gossip food chain.
On the show, Kanye was seen accompanying the entire clan to the opening of Scott Disick’s New York restaurant. Even Lamar and Khloe were there.
