The 11-year-stepson of Usher Raymond and son of his ex-wife Tameka Foster was seriously injured in an accident at Lake Lanier on Friday when he and an unidentified 15-year-old girl was struck in the head by a man on a jetski while they were riding in inner tubes being pulled by a boat.
The boy, Kile Glover, and the girl were flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, with the boy’s injuries being much more serious. Though Usher and Tameka are still in the midst of a nasty divorce and custody battle over their children, 4-year-old Usher V and 3-year-old Naviyd, Usher reportedly chartered a jet for Tameka to fly to her injured son’s side, according to E!Online.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the incident, which happened near Holiday Marina. The DNR didn’t release the names of those involved in the incident, but the DNR said the man on the jetski was part of the same group that the children were in.
DNR rangers at the lake pulled the teenage girl from the water Friday afternoon, Sgt. Mike Bergamy said. Good Samaritans in a nearby boat pulled the boy from the water, Bergamy said.
Lake Lanier can be a dangerous place in the summer with all of the boats crowded onto the water and the alcohol flowing freely. The incident on Friday came just four days after the funeral for two brothers killed in a June 18 boat wreck at the lake. Jake and Griffin Prince died when the pontoon boat they were on with family members was struck by a fishing boat.
Russell Simmons tweeted: “Praying that Usher and Tameka’s son is OK…”
While Fantasia said: “Everyone PLEASE pray for Usher and Tameka’s son! This is the time they really need your prayers!”
