Tyler Perry Gets Serious In First 'Alex Cross' Trailer

Summit has just released the first full trailer for Rob Cohen’s action crime thriller, Alex Cross. The trailer features Tyler Perry in a way we haven’t seen him before.

Based on best-selling novels by James Patterson, Alex Cross follows the young Washington D.C. homicide detective and psychologist, Alex Cross (Tyler Perry), who is caught up in a high stakes game of cat and mouse with a psychotic hit-man serial killer (Matthew Fox).

Seeing Tyler Perry take off his Madea dress and prosthetic costume to play more serious roles, such as he did in Good Deeds, can take some getting use to. However, judging by the trailer it seems like he potentially put on a good performance.

Directed by Robert Cohen, the Alex Cross adaptation was written by Marc Moss (screenplay) and Kerry Williamson. Aside from Perry and Fox, the cast includes Rachel Nichols, Edward Burns, Jean Reno and John C. McGinley.

Alex Cross hits theaters Friday, October 19th.
