Lionsgate has moved the release date for Tyler Perry’s Alex Cross up a week. The new date has been bumped to October 19th instead of its previously announced October 26.
There hasn’t been an official reason for the change but many people speculate that the switch had something to do with he film’s competition during that October 26th weekend. During that week, there are films being released starring Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon, Gerard Butler and Sean Bean, which may take away a little steam from Alex Cross.
Now, on October 19th, Alex Cross only has Paramount’s Paranormal Activity 4 to worry about as its competition.
According to the film’s synopsis the movie in which Perry will play detective Alex Cross is described as such:
When a detective is pulled out of a family celebration and given the awful news that a beloved relative has been found brutally murdered, he vows to hunt down the killer, and soon learns that she was mixed up in one of Washington’s wildest scenes. And she was not this killer’s only victim.
The hunt for her murderer leads Alex and his girlfriend, Detective Brianna Stone, to a place where every fantasy is possible, if you have the credentials to get in. As Alex closes in on the killer, he discovers evidence that points to the unimaginable–a revelation that could rock the entire world.
Alex Cross also features Cicely Tyson, Giancarlo Esposito, Matthew Fox, and Ed Burns, among others.
