Jamie Foxx is currently in negotiations to play the President of the United States in Roland Emmerich’s White House Down.
The upcoming film is an action thriller that stars Channing Tatum as a Secret Service agent, whose job is to protect the President during an invasion. Foxx won’t be the first black actor to play an American president. Morgan Freeman (Deep Impact) and Dennis Haysbert (24) are also a few other black actors who have portrayed the head of the state.
White House Down was written by James Vanderbilt and produced by Mythology Entertainment partners Bradley Fischer, Vanderbilt, and Laeta Kalogridis.
Jamie Foxx already has a full plate. Currently, the Oscar award-winner is playing the lead role in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, the slave era drama that shows a character who escapes his owners and is on a mission to rescue his wife (Kerry Washington) from the plantation. The film also stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Christoph Waltz.
