Pop star Rihanna used a performance in London to refute alleged “beef” with hip-hop icon Jay-Z.
Rihanna attempted to shut down allegations by hitting the stage at London’s O2 Arena with both Jay-Z and Kanye West to perform “All Of The Lights“ and “Run This Town,” both songs which Rihanna originally recorded with the duo. After the performance she later tweeted “…I made history tonight as the first person to Watch The Throne [and] join it!… No one is allowed on that stage! Thank u guys.”
The rumors concerning Rihanna and Jay-Z’s alleged animosity began once Rihanna agreed to release two songs with ex-boyfriend and R&B superstar Chris Brown. Jay-Z has made it very clear in the past his distaste for the R&B singer, publicly refusing to attend the BET Awards if Chris Brown was allowed to perform.
Fueling rumors, Jay-Z made a public appearance with British artist Rita Ora, his newest edition to Roc Nation. Fans believed Jay-Z distanced himself from Rihanna, replacing the Barbados native with Ora.
Rihanna is the first artist to join both Jay-Z and Kanye West on stage during the “Watch The Throne” tour. No other artist has been allowed to perform during the duo’s performances.
