Universal has recently bought the The Disciple Program, a thriller with Mark Wahlberg attached to star in it.
The upcoming film is described as a ‘Manchurian Candidate-style thriller’ where a man investigates the murder of his wife after her strange death.
Also attached to the script is producer Stephen Levinson and director Morten Tyldum, who directed the movie Headhunters. The Disciple Program was written by Tyler Marceca, an unsigned newcomer from Brooklyn NY.
Marceca got his big break in Hollywood rather fast after he entered his work into a screenwriting competition a few months ago. The work made itself around Hollywood like a wild fire. Major studios and producers thought it was quality material. Thereafter, the new writer got numerous phone calls, but had no representation. He ended up signing with WME, Anonymous Content and attorney David Fox.
This is the seceond Universal project which will feature Wahlberg and Levinson. The two teamed up for the Universal hit Contraband, which also starred Wahlberg and was produced by Levinson.
