Basketball Wives fans have had enough of Evelyn Lozada. After four seasons and several fights later Evelyn is feeling the backlash of fans who have grown tired of her bottle throwing, glass throwing, clutch smacking, behavior. One fan in particular named Alexis M began a petition on change.org called ‘Boycott Evelyn Lozada’.
“Evelyn Lozada is a bully. The violence on “Basketball Wives” is horrible and disgraceful. Physical assaults, threats, verbal abuse, and harassment. VH1 is rewarding this behavior by giving Evelyn a spinoff. Don’t reward negative behavior.
This is not a hate petition against Eveyln Lozada. We simply will not support violence. It hurts to see violence amongst women on television for entertainment purposes. It is not ok for women to hit each other on TV.”
Thus far the petition has received 4,628 signatures and also calls for a boycott of her new show with fiance Chad Ochocinco, ‘Ev & Ocho’. Another vocal advocate of a boycott is Star Jones. Last month Jones called for a boycott and after last Monday’s episode with Evelyn stomping across a table to attack Jennifer Williams aired, Star spoke out once again on Twitter with hashtag #ENOUGHisENOUGH:
“It may be ‘comfortable’ to be quiet when women of color slap the crap out of each other & run across tables barefoot, but #ENOUGHisENOUGH.”
“Laying with a man who has fathered children with FIVE, SIX, SEVEN other women…is just RIDICULOUS. #ENOUGHisENOUGH”
“I came back from lunch w/ @BEVERLYBOND ready to just act up because little black girls deserve more than what we’re giving! #ENOUGHisENOUGH”
Jones continued by offering support to Jennifer Williams who received undue criticism for filing a police report and lawsuit after receiving an open hand slap to her face courtesy of Nia Crooks,
“And the thought that the woman from #BBW who was smacked doesn’t have the RIGHT to file assault charges is LUDICROUS! You NEVER give up your right not to have your ‘person’ intentionally assaulted unless you are participating in an agreed physical activity.
Will you join the Basketball Wives boycott?
UPDATE: The petition has received 12,913 signatures as of 8am Friday morning.
