Rosie O'Donnell Condemns Lindsay Lohan As Liz Taylor

Rosie O’Donell lashes out at the casting of Lindsay Lohan to play the iconic Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime biopic entitled “Liz and Dick” insisting the starlet is ‘Incapable’ of portraying Liz because of her ‘disastrous’ personal life.

The infamous no-bars-held funny woman sat on a ‘Today’ show panel with former View co-host Star Jones, and brand developer Donny Deutsch to discuss a barrage of latest in-the-news happenings and per usual, Rosie said flatly what was on her mind.

When asked if the idea to cast the “Parent Trap” actress was good: “No,” said Rosie firmly. “Because she’s had a lot of trouble doing every single movie, including SNL. She was out and not at rehearsal. I think she’s not in a place to work.”

Donny chimed in challenging her thoughts: “It’s a great idea. She’s our generation’s Elizabeth Taylor.”

“You’re out of your mind. Get out of here!” said Rosie. “The last thing she did good she was 16.” She added, “I don’t think she’s right for the role and I don’t think she’s capable at this point of doing what’s needed.”

The heated talk came on the heels of the long-assumed confirmation from the film’s executive producer Larry Thompson who spoke exclusively to E! News.

“We have wanted Lindsay from day one,” Thompson said. “She had a lot in her life that was going on. We needed to give her time to take care of her business, and while we negotiated the deal for her we prayed for her—and wonderfully she has behaved. She’s cleared herself and we’re ready to start this movie.”

While Rosie is not buying that Lindsay can pull the role off, offering that “she needs time away,” Thompson is confident in the studio’s final decision.

“We truly feel that Lindsay Lohan is perfect for Elizabeth Taylor for our movie….I think Lindsay—who is very gifted—deserved another chance,” Thompson explained. “We never, of three pages of ‘what if’s’ in the negotiation, there never was ‘what if she can’t act.’ We know she can act.”

Someone else who is coming to Lindsay’s defense? Her Dad, who took to twitter to discredit any naysay Rosie had to say.

“…of ALL people, I can’t believe YOU would judge my daughter or her ability. Second chances aren’t up to you, they’re up to God.”

And of course Rosie had the last word: “She needs help – nobody around her seems to get that – it’s tragic what has become of her life – work isn’t gonna fix her.”

How do you feel about Lindsay taking on Elizabeth Taylor’s role?
