Amber Riley sang another rendition of the Whitney Houston hit “I Will Always Love You” on Tuesday’s Valentine’s Day-themed episode of the Fox dramedy Glee. This week’s episode was fully dedicated to Houston, following her untimely passing.
Riley performed a powerful interpretation of the tearjerker ballad, as her character Mercedes made the choice to be single instead of dating current boyfriend Shane or ex-boyfriend Sam.
“I Will Always Love You” is considered the song that made Houston a worldwide star. Houston’s signature tune from the 1992 soundtrack for The Bodyguard was featured at the end of the episode with a title card that read: “Whitney Houston 1963-2012. We will always love you.”
Amber Riley’s performance of Whitney Houston’s record on Glee had been coincidently planned even before her shocking February 11th death.
