UPDATE-Is Rihanna’s Tupac tattoo real or fake? RiRi tweeted a picture showing off her knuckles with the inscription ‘Thug Life.’ If you’re too new school, the term ‘Thug Life’ was inspired by the late California rapper 2pac, real name, Tupac Shakur and was tattooed across his abdomen.
The debate has once again began over Rihanan’s duty as a role model and perhaps more importantly her state of being. Is she heading towards a downward spiral? Upon first glance the choice of words and placement of the tattoo seems highly irresponsible for a pop star of her caliber – and it may be! Unknown to many there is a deeper meaning, at least in Tupac’s mind about the definition of the word: “Thug Life is the opposite of someone having all he needs to succeed. Thug life is when you have nothing, and succeed, when you have overcome all obstacles to reach your aim.” Tupac also died after being shot four times in 1996 at the age of 25.
So is the tattoo real? Late last year when Rihanna’s LOUD tour stopped in Brazil she was photographed on her balcony with the inscription on her knuckles – it is believed Thug Life was only written with a marker at that time. It’s safe to say the We Found Love singer was contemplating getting the real deal. After enjoying a long, sexy vacation in Hawaii it appears the pop star went through with it. Further evidence are bandages seen around Rihanna’s fingers when she posed for a picture with actor Danny Trejo – see below.
Somewhere there is still hope that it’s fake and was done to spark controversy….hopefully
