Idris Elba Wins Golden Globe For Best Actor In A TV Miniseries

Idris Elba of “Luther” won the Golden Globe award for best actor in a series, miniseries or motion picture made for television at the 69th Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills. Elba reigned victorious for the award over Bill Nighy of “Page Eight,” Bonneville of “Downton Abbey,” Dominic West of “The Hour,” and William Hurt of “Too Big to Fail.”

In Luther, Elba plays detective John Luther. His “Luther” character has the ability to identify any killer within 10 steps of him, however, he suffers a mental breakdown after chasing down a pedophile.

Elba has also appeared in “The Wire, ” “The Office” and in film such as “Takers,” “Obsessed” and “Thor.”

In other Idris Elba news: the British actor announced that he will be returning for the role as Heimdall in “Thor 2.”

The Golden Globes were held at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday and are being televised on NBC.
