Christina Aguilera Confronts Critics Over Weight Gain

Christina Aguilera recently admitted that although things can be fairly difficult for a woman in the entertainment industry, she’s very much comfortable in her skin despite the constant media scrutiny.

During a Television Critics Association conference this past Friday, Aguilera proclaimed she’s no rookie as she’s had several years under her belt as far as showbiz is concerned.

“I’ve been in this business for a long time. I came out on the scene when I was 17 years old.”

Christina added that no matter how you look you will often find you’re never quite perfect enough according to the public’s point of view.

“You can never be too much of anything. You can never be too perfect, too thin, too curvy, voluptuous this, that. I’ve been on all sides of the spectrum as far as any female in this business.”

Aguilera also stated that she’s happy to use her position on NBC’s new, show The Voice, as a platform to guide fellow budding female artists.

“Being in a position to coach these young women, I am happy to be able to share that with them and share my highs and lows. Being on the show, it’s a very good outlet for me.”

But things haven’t always been positive for the 31 year old pop singer. She was once publicly engaged in a battle of the bulge with fellow TV celebrity Kelly Osbourne who took issue with the fact that Christina previously called her overweight after appearing in a less than flattering dress during the Michael Jackson Tribute Concert.

Here’s a snippet of Kelly’s wild rebuttal on E!’s Fashion Police;

“She called me fat for so many f–king years. So you know what? F–k you! You’re fat too.”

Ouch, think it’s fair to say Kelly was pretty sensitive about her body image then as well.

Luckily Christina is looking to head in a more positive direction as she mentioned that as long as she and her new man, Matt Rutler, loves her body she doesn’t care what anyone else thinks.

“I have a boyfriend that loves my body. I love my body, my son is healthy and happy and that is all that matters.”

You can catch more of Christina Aguilera when NBC’s The Voice which premieres its new season on Monday February 5th.
