Just when you thought Kim Kardashian had the market cornered in speedy celebrity divorces for 2011, another celebrity slides in to claim the prize as singer/songwriter Sinead O’Connor files for divorce from her husband Barry Herridge after just 18 days!
The notoriously private Irish, folk singer had originally intended on concealing the matter; but as you know, news travels fast in the rumor mill so she instead decided to release the following statement in an effort to control any fabricated stories.
“From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life not to be involved with me. Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kiboshed by the behavior of certain people in my husband’s life. And also by a bit of a wild ride I took us on looking for a bit of smoke of weed for me (on my) wedding night as I don’t drink.”

Yep, she said weed…which might I add doesn’t always act as a sufficient alternative for alcohol. Sinead continued by insinuating that divorce was ultimately their only option because “those close to” her husband wouldn’t allow him peace otherwise.
She ended her dear John letter by apologizing for her eccentric nature and stating since her husband, Barry Herridge, was far too nice to end things, it was best she did instead.
“I’m sorry I’m not a more regular woman. I truly believe though it is painful to admit, we made a mistake rushing into getting married, for altruistic reasons, and weren’t aware or prepared for the consequences on my husband’s life and the lives of those close to him. He has been terribly unhappy and I have therefore ended the marriage. I think he is too nice to do so. And too nice to trap.”
Sinead O’Conner has been married a total of four times, so it’s fair to assume that she probably doesn’t plan on changing anytime soon. A fact her courters should probably keep in mind if they hope to outlast her past relationships. Will Kim Kardashian and Sinead go for another round in 2012?
Sandra Bullock Opens Up About Divorce From Jesse James
Actress Sandra Bullock revealed that her 2010 divorce from Jesse James left her soo wounded she considered quitting acting.
“I was perfectly content to be permanently broken,” Bullock, tells the Associated Press via Huffington Post. Sandra’s divorce came at the height of her career when she won her first Oscar for starring in ‘Blind Side’. It wasn’t long before news of James’ infidelity splashed major news outlets day in day out. Bullock retreated from the public eye, adopted a baby boy, Louis, and began a new life as a former actress taking care of her son.
“I honestly didn’t think I was in a place where I wanted to work or wanted to step out of where I was. … I wasn’t prepared. But the opportunity was louder than my head.” The opportunity came from director Stephen Daldry who convinced Sandra to appear alongside Tom Hanks in Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close.
“We had a great time. It’s no longer ‘selfish actress’ in the moment,” she says. “I wanted to have an amazing time with him and, fortunately, Mr. Daldry presented it. In every possible way, it was the best!”
