Wendy Williams Forced To Defend Oprah's Letter Against Gayle King

Talk show host Wendy Williams is battling Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King! Here’s the scoop: Last week during her Hot Topics segment Wendy Williams, who appeared elated at the thought that Oprah even watches her show, read a very brief letter sent “from one of Oprah’s people” to her audience. In the letter Oprah reaffirms her support to Gayle King who’s left Oprah’s OWN network for a co hosting job on CBS, ‘The Morning Show’. But while Wendy was riding high from the thought of Oprah watching her show Gayle was busy refuting the letter altogether. King called into Tom Joyner’s morning show and stated,

“I know Oprah never wrote a letter to Wendy.” So Gayle called Oprah to confirm:

“I said, ‘I’m getting all these messages that you wrote a letter to Wendy.’ “She goes, ‘Gayle, you know more than anybody knows that that’s not true.'”

To further confirm that Oprah fully supports her move, Gayle recalled the conversation prior to making her decision.

“When this opportunity was presented to me–and make no mistake, it is an opportunity–the first people I talked to were Oprah, my son and my daughter. [Oprah] said, ‘Are you kidding? This is so what you do, the news is what you love…you would be crazy to pass it up.'”

So where’s the beef? Wendy, Oprah and Gayle are saying the same thing. Which may explain why Wendy wasn’t backing down and willing to throw the young woman who sent the letter under the bus. Williams called into to Tom Joyner and stopped short of spelling Chelsea Hettrick, the woman who sent the letter. Wendy also added,

“I have no reason to lie about this,” Williams said. “You could not imagine that this woman just sent the letter out on her own accord.”

Again, where’s the beef?
