The media’s hunger for their daily dose of Kim Kardashian divorce news roars ahead as Nashville star Carrie Underwood and singing sensation Mariah Carey both take jabs at the future divorcee.
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were publicly mocked during Wednesday’s CMA Awards in Nashville, Tennessee as Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet opened a skit with the following comment;
“I think you forget to sing a song about what’s weighing on everyone’s mind in this room, the divorce of Kim Kardashian and what’s his name!”
Fellow presenters Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley then joined Stonestreet for a trio which left the audience in hysterics.
“I’m going to love you forever and ever, or 72 days Amen, as long as Justin Bieber is not a conceiver, as long as Taylor Swift is with her current boyfriend,”
They continued;
“I’m going to love you for 20 million dollars, for a hit TV series or pics in Us Weekly, for 72 Days, Amen.”
Mariah Carey joined in the antics as she casually joked about Kim’s super quick divorce during a press conference held at the Four Seasons in NYC, where Carey was unveiled as the new ambassador for Jenny (formerly Jenny Craig).
“I’m a real person, I’m not going to put on a fake face for Hollywood,”
She jokingly added;
“Sometimes we make each other mad, that’s why we aren’t divorced after four months…I’m sorry, I’m just saying.”
Although most found the comment amusing, Mariah was still back pedaling as she attempted to clear up the comparison during an interview on Extra.
“First of all, I don’t read the tabloids unless it’s about me. And even then, when it is about me, I try not to read it unless it’s good. I don’t look at these people. I don’t even know what it is, but I do know that marriages come and go really quickly in Hollywood.”
She added;
“A lot of people have high-profile moments, and then they get a divorce, and I’m sure it’s very painful for them. My thing is, I don’t want that. I got married to stay married. I want some stability for our kids, and Nick feels the same way.
Carrey concluded by admitting that she and husband Nick Cannon are both jokesters at heart; a fact which has aided them in getting through the rough patches.
“Not only are we both kind of jokesters, for the lack of a better word, we are also kind of provincial in that way. I think we both believe in trying to make it through. I’m proud of it.”
