update-Anya Ayoung-Chee had a few things working for her, design school was not one of them. Instead, the Trinidadian born Project Runway Winner had humility, team spirit and style all working in unison towards her eventual success.
In the days leading up to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Anya took Tim Gunn’s advice and made the necessary changes to her collection. In the end judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, Michael Kors and guest judge L’Wren Scott chose Anya as the winner.
Her 10-piece collection included the perfect wardrobe for a tropical vacation! As the winner of Project Runway, Anya will receive $100,000, a full spread in Marie Claire magazine, $50,000 technology suite and an opportunity to design and sell a collection for Piperlime.com (A Gap affiliate)
While Anya remains in bliss over her win not everyone is cheering. Some fans were disappointed in the choice. One stated:
“I agree- I am so upset that Anya won. The ability to sew and use proper technique needs to be the center of a designer. What is she going to do when a client asks for something specific? Say, oh I haven’t learned that yet? Joshua should have won- I love him!”
Are you satisfied with the judges’ decision or should Joshua McKinley, Viktor Luna or Kimberly Goldson have won?
Check out some looks from Anya’s collection below. Congrats!!
