Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are making another movie together. This will be the Hollywood stars’ first production together since Good Will Hunting. The two are making a biopic based on the story of New England’s most notorious gangster, Whitey Bulger.
Both men will direct and produce the film. Affleck will co-star and Damon will take on the task of playing Bulger.
“Matt and I have been looking for something to do together for some time,” Affleck said. “We’ve heard about Whitey Bulger since we were kids, and we are excited by the prospect of putting it on screen.”
Bulger is a South Boston crime mobster who fled the city in 1994. The Bostonian was captured in June of this year after being on the run for 16 years. He was on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List at the time of his arrest in Santa Monica. The biopic will cover Bulger’s youth through his rise to become the top mob boss in Boston.
Pearl Street’s Chay Carter will be executive producer and Warner Bros will make the film.
