Update-For Kat Von D the third time might be the charm. The reality TV star yet again proves the familiar superstition that you should never get a tattoo of your lover because it usually spells the end, as she and former Spike TV Star Jesse James call it quits…for the second again.
During happier times, Kat had a tattoo of James’s face etched on her arm claiming it was a youthful reminder of how he overcame his trials as a young man. Unfortunately that may be all Kat has to remember him by given that they have officially called off their engagement for the second time.
As you may recall, Kat ended her stint with the TLC series LA Ink earlier this summer claiming irreconcilable differences as she appeared to be in conflict with the shows producers. At that time she released the following statement to People Magazine;
“In an effort to capitalize on my recent breakup, the network has decided to focus their energy on re-editing events that didn’t happen while filming. I have no regrets and am very proud of the original footage. In my opinion, any attempt to compromise the honesty of that would be an insult to my fans and viewers.”
Kat and Jesse then chose to very publicly express their love as they posted PDA photos on separate twitter accounts where they were clearly entwined in a lovers embrace. James further cemented the topic by releasing this statement;
“Sometimes you are only given one chance in life. It was up to me to open my eyes and see it. That girl is my chance. I will never stop fighting and striving to hold on to her. Showing her how special she is, and how much I love her.”
Well, I guess Jesse decided to throw in his gloves after all as it appears that the primary issue of “distance” was yet again a contributing factor in the couples split.
James, who is based in Texas, has repeatedly insisted that Kat move from LA in order for their relationship to work; and up until recently, we were under the suspicion that she was in agreement since the two publicly made it clear that the wedding was back on.
However, Kat has now sternly stated that she has no intention on leaving her business and moving to Texas and further re-iterates that she is a single woman. Von D confirmed the split with the following statement to E!:
“I am not in a relationship, and I apologize for all the ‘back and forth’ if it’s caused any confusion.”
And in case you missed the promo; Kat went on to confirm that she is firmly planted in LA by stating;
“I am not in any way moving to Texas. My tattoo shop is not closing, and is open for business … same goes for my art gallery, Wonderland, next door to High Voltage Tattoo.”
Although it’s not entirely clear why this dynamic duo has yet again chosen to part ways, Kat attempted to shed light on the subject by offering the following explanation to People Magazine;
“It was clear to me that we were just on two different paths in life.”
“My friend put it best when he said I could never be more deserving of total, noble love. And as a woman, I think it’s important to know your value and never lose sight of that.”
Soooo…does this mean there’s no makeup session in the very near future?! Only Jesse James and Kat Von D knows – and quite frankly I wouldn’t put it past them…
