Just months after giving birth to twins Monroe and Morocco, Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Mariah Carey is reportedly in the tail end of talks with Simon Cowell to join his hit show The X Factor.
According to The Daily Mail, Mariah has long since been rumored to be in discussions with the show. In fact, last month Cowell released the following statement regarding their negotiations;
“I think Mariah will have a role on the TV live shows. I met her recently and she was on great form, And her idea was to be the judge of the judges, which only Mariah could come up with”
Although it appears Mariah may not completely have her way; she will be playing the significant role of mentor. Mariah the Diva is not the only artist being courted by Simon to mentor the UK hopefuls. In an effort to make US X Factor number 1, Simon is pulling all the stops by snagging superstars, “the Beyonces, the Rihannas, all of them.” Beyonce isn’t new to the mentorship game when she offered some advice to American Idol hopefuls last season.
Mariah is said to be in the “final” stages of negotiating her deal but it remains unclear if Beyonce and Rihanna will be anything more than one-time mentors.
