Update-Maria Shriver and Arnold have temporarily reunited to be at the side of their youngest son, Christopher. (more below)
The battle begins on Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s divorce. After announcing their separation in May 2011, Maria opted to end their 25-year marriage when she filed for divorce earlier this month. Maria requested joint custody of their 17 and 13 year old sons, in addition to spousal support and legal fees paid by Arnold. Seems fair, given the shocking news of Arnold’s infidelity and fathering a child with their housekeeper, Mildred Baena.
Arnold had other plans however when he rejected spousal support to Maria and asked the court for both parties pay their own legal fees. TMZ reported that spousal support rejection should have little impact on the outcome of their settlement. Maria and Arnold have $400 million in asset between them with no pre-nup! Which under California law, Maria is entitled to half. However, the estranged couple is expected to reach a confidential agreement behind close doors. Which makes you wonder why Maria requested spousal support in the first place.
The only thing the couple did agree on is joint custody of their minor sons.
Update-TMZ has reported that Maria Shriver and Arnold’s youngest son Christopher was involved in surfing accident that resulted in multiple broken bones and a collapsed lung. Christopher’s condition has since been upgraded to OK.
Maria Shriver has not left Christopher’s side while Arnold visits daily. Stay tuned for Round Two of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Divorce
