Rihanna’s “Man Down” video has received some harsh criticism from the Parent Television Council. I can’t say I’m particularly surprised that Rihanna has garnered some criticism for her “Man Down” video. The video deals with the sensitive topic of rape and how the victim deals with the outcome of the assault. Rihanna expresses remorse for her actions in the lyrics of the song for taking the life of her attacker but others thing it’s not enough.
Rihanna tweeted after the premiere of the video on BET
“Its #Gritty #GULLY #Emotional #JAMRock Very strong underlying message 4 girls like me! #listentoyomama.”
The PTC stated,
“In my 30 years of viewing BET. I have never witnessed such a cold, calculated execution of murder in prime time. If Chris Brown shot a woman in his new video and BET premiered it, the world would stop.”
What do you think of the Parent Television Council criticism of Rihanna’s Man Down video?
