Chris Brown Released From Custody, Charge Reduced to Misdemeanor

Chris Brown felony reduced to misdemeanor assault chargesChris Brown was released from police custody on Monday after prosecutors reduced his charge from a felony assault to a misdemeanor.

Brown was arrested after he and his bodyguard allegedly got into a physical altercation with a man  in Washington, D.C.

The victim of the assault suffered a broken nose and claimed that Brown spit out a few gay slurs before  punching him in the face after he tried to get in a photo with Brown and two other women.

It is believed that the man was a friend of  the two women who were taking a photograph with the R&B star, although Brown’s side of the story is a bit different.

Brown’s legal team is suggesting that the man was trying to push his way onto the “Fine China” singer’s tour bus and his bodyguard was doing his job by keeping him off.

“We understand that his security acted to protect Mr. Brown and Mr. Brown’s property as he was authorized to do under District of Columbia law,” Chris Brown’s lawyer, Danny Onorato said outside of court on Monday. “We are confident that Mr. Brown will be exonerated of any wrongdoing.”

Needless to say, the biggest difference in the two versions of events is who actually punched the man in the face.

While the victim claims Brown threw the brutal blow, Brown’s legal team is assuring the public that it was the bodyguard who punched the man in Brown’s defense.

One eyewitness has already stepped forward and although he isn’t revealing many details to the media it seems as if he is going to support the victim’s side of the story.

Abraham Luakabuanga of Tysons Corner, Va. runs a small limousine company and he says he witnessed the entire thing.

With Howard University celebrating homecoming, it was no surprise that there were quite a few limousine drivers in the area who may have witnessed what happened with the “Love More” crooner who was booked to perform at a homecoming afterparty, which was not sponsored by the school.

“I looked a Chris Brown and was like, ‘Sir, why this?’” Luakabuanga said. “To me, it was like, ‘You’re a star, you have bodyguards.’ Things should have been handled differently.”

He also claimed he saw Brown taking pictures with the women when the male victim approached them and soon after witnessed the physical altercation.

While Brown was initially facing up to four years behind bars, the reduced charge means he will be facing a maximum of six months in jail if found guilty.

He is due back in court on Nov. 25.
