Just days before they were set to go on the road, Drake has reportedly fired rapper Future from his upcoming jaunt, Would You Like A Tour? The fallout reportedly stems from some not so favorable comments Future made about Drake’s “Nothing Was The Same” album. Drake was so upset about the comments, that he demanded Future be removed from the tour. As reported by rollingstone.com:
“Drake has allegedly booted rapper Future from his upcoming ‘Would You Like a Tour?’ trek after Future offered a lukewarm review of Drake’s new album in a conversation with Billboard. According to the New York Post, Drizzy was so incensed by Future’s comments about Nothing Was the Same that he demanded the rapper be removed from the tour.
“Future made his comments to Billboard associate editor Erika Ramierz when he stopped by her office on October 4th to play her his forthcoming record, Honest. She quoted him as saying, ‘Drake made an album that is full of hits, but it doesn’t grab you. They’re not possessive; they don’t make you feel the way I do.'”
Future’s manager has stated that those comments were made off the record and were taken out of context. However the comments are already out there. Now they’ve led to a legal rift between the two rappers. According to vibe.com:
“‘He told his agent either Future gets fired, or he’ll fire him,’ a source tells Page Six about Drake, who was reportedly on bad terms with Future back in 2012 after failing to show up at the shoot for the auto-tuned MC’s ‘Tony Montana’ video.
” Future was reportedly fired then brought back only to pull out of the tour. Ciara’s significant other, who was set to earn about $40,000 per gig, is reportedly filing a lawsuit against Drake for lost wages, or about $1.5 million.”
Drake may have overreacted a bit in this instance, but there may be more to this story. We will follow it closely and update as more details become available.
