Tyler Perry’s Former Inman Park Studio Site of $70 Million Redevelopment Project

Atlanta director Tyler Perry’s former Inman Park studio is becoming part of a $70 million redevelopment.

Paces Properties LLC is developing the project, including the re-purposing of Perry’s former studio on Krog Street just north of Edgewood Avenue. Paces wants to turn the site into a mixed-use development that includes at least 300 residential units and eventually boasts a food culture like those found at Oxbow Public Market in Napa Valley or the landmark Ferry Building Marketplace on San Francisco’s waterfront.

Paces could break ground in a matter of weeks.

In a related news story, Perry recently announced that he has established a partnership with Oprah’s Own network.

Perry, the filmmaker and entrepreneur best known for his madcap comic character Madea, has entered an exclusive partnership with OWN to make the network his “singular destination for all new television series and projects.” That includes two new scripted series on track to premiere in mid 2013.

Perry’s series will be OWN’s first step into the scripted world, and the deal comes at a time when the struggling network is on a ratings upswing.
