Former Destiny Child’s LaTavia and LeToya Critique Beyonce's Halftime Show

Former Destiny’s Child members LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett took time to critique Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams’ performance during the 2013 Super Bowl half time show and both ladies are giving it two thumbs up. Meanwhile, Beyonce threw out some of her best comedic pop culture references when she went backstage after the big show.

LaTavia Roberson split with Destiny’s Child back in 1999, but apparently the friendship between her and her former group mates is still strong.

When she was asked about the Super Bowl, LaTavia admitted that she was yet another fan who saw the entire night as the Beyonce Bowl rather than the biggest football game of the year.

“Obviously, seeing Beyonce perform was the highlight for me,” LaTavia told Celebuzz. “I got a real surprise when both Kelly and Michelle both popped-up on the stage like that.”

So did everyone else apparently after Michelle Williams denied all claims that Destiny’s Child would be reuniting at the Super Bowl.

While some weren’t big fans of Kelly and Michelle, LaTavia believed that all the ladies did amazing jobs.

“I thought they all looked great and did a good job with their dance moves,” she continued. “Beyonce was especially amazing. She looked fabulous and her voice was really strong.”

Of course, even LaTavia heard the rumors that Kelly and Michelle had been set up when they hit the stage with mics that were off.

“During the performance somebody texted me to say they could not hear Kelly and Michelle sing,” the former Destiny’s Child member said. “It was so noisy in the house where we watched the performance that I did not really notice anything wrong. But who knows? They probably had some technical problems.”

With half of the lights in the Super Dome shutting off out of nowhere “technical problems” were definitely huge possibilities for why the other ladies mics didn’t seem to project as loud as Bey’s.

Then again you also have to remember that Mrs. Carter’s powerhouse voice would have drowned Kelly and Michelle out regardless of what their mics were set on.

As for Roberson, she is still tight with all of the fierce singers.

“I have spoken to all the girls since then,” she said in reference to their split about 14 years ago. “I’ve seen Beyonce and we’ve embraced each other and we’ve hugged. I’ve told her how proud I am of everything that she’s been doing and that she’s an absolutely phenomenal woman… There’s not a bitter bone in my body.”

LaToya Luckett didn’t sit down for an interview about the show, but she did take to Twitter to tell the ladies how proud she was.

“The MOST entertaining Super Bowl I’ve ever seen in MY life from start to finish! #Handsdown,” she tweeted after the huge performance.

It’s obvious that the world always has its eyes on Baddie Bey, but have you ever wondered what Mrs. Carter watches? Well apparently “Real Housewives of Atlanta” has popped up on her TV every now and then because she was quick to make a reference about Kenya Moore backstage after the half time performance.

The drama starting pageant queen insists that she can’t go a day without people confusing her for Beyonce so we’re sure it made her life when Beyonce used her famous catchphrase backstage.

When she spoke with Inside Edition after the show she was asked “How does it feel?”

Showing just how quick witted and funny she was, Jay-Z’s wife answered “They were fierce hunty! Gone with the wind fabulous!!!”

Tell ‘em Bey!

That wasn’t where the pop culture references stopped however. Internet sensation Sweet Brown got a shout out from the R&B queen as well.

“They say the half-time show was so hot, the power went out,” an interviewer from Extra TV said to the “Dance for You” crooner.

Mrs. Carter quickly responded by saying, “The power went out? Lord Jesus it’s a fire!!”

Well there you have it. We already knew the 31-year-old mommy was beautiful, talented, sweet, ridiculously rich, and intelligent. Well now you can add that she’s funny as well.

No wonder she’s GQ’s Sexiest Woman of the 21st Century!
