Carmelo Anthony’s mysterious fast may have been the cause of the New York Knicks’ losing streak. Meanwhile the Knicks’ owner also spied on Carmelo after his nasty altercation with Kevin Garnett.
Carmelo’s mysterious fast is finally ending, and his team couldn’t be any happier.
The NBA star explained that he usually does the fast for “spiritual reasons” when he feels he needs it the most.
“I usually do it sometimes just to get some clarity in my life,” Carmelo explained. “Spiritual reasons. I’m done now. I can’t do it no more.”
Now that the Knicks player finally has a “good meal” on his stomach, it seems as if he has been back in the game better than ever and managed to help his team end their latest losing streak.
“It’s a long story. I haven’t had a good meal in about two-and-a-half weeks,” the 28-year-old basketball star said. “No meats, no carbs, anything like that. I don’t know how I as going through competing at a high level. Just sometimes these past three, four games where the body just feels depleted out there and just trying to find a way to get energy. But like I said, I surrender. I’m done. I’m going to get some food right now.”
The food has definitely helped his performance because Anthony managed to score 27 points and snatched seven rebounds to lead his team to a 100-87 victory over the New Orleans Hornets yesterday.
Fans can only hope that this is the beginning of a new winning streak for the Knicks since Anthony isn’t schedule for another mysterious fast until next year.
“I do this every year, once a year,” he revealed after explaining that the fast is just something he needs for himself.
“It’s for my own sake,” he said. “Sometimes in life you’ve got to replenish your body, build your body back up and get all the toxins out. [Get] all the things you don’t need in your body out.”
While it may get harmful things out of his body, the spiritual cleanse does not eliminate harmful things from his reputation or provide him with any patience.
In the midst of the cleanse Lala’s husband got into a serious altercation with Kevin Garnett on the court.
Rumors are swirling that the tension spawned from the players’ quick exchange of harsh words – particularly some in reference in Carmelo’s wife.
Although the altercation didn’t get too physical, Anthony and Kevin were just inches away from duking it out in the middle of the court.
The incident may seem small to some, but for the Knicks owner it was definitely way out of line.
In fact the team’s owner, Jim Dolan, made special arrangements to hear every word that came out Carmelo’s mouth during Sunday’s game.
“Two [MSG Network] audio technicians were stationed at two corners of the court – one a few feet just behind the Knicks bench, the other diagonally opposite – and they were holding those umbrella-shaped contraptions known as parabola microphones, which fed the audio into a DAT recorder on the truck on the loading dock,” Dave D’Alessandro of NJ.com reported.
In other words, the owner spied on Carmelo during the entire game and ordered the technicians to send everything they caught Anthony say directly to him.
It is still unclear what the recordings will be used for and if Carmelo will be punished if he uttered a single rude word during the game, but it seems certain that the owner doesn’t trust Anthony to keep his mouth shut.
The good news for fans of the NBA star is that the tapes were likely just used as a “teaching tool or as the basis for a lesson with Carmelo about how to comport himself on the court,” and not as something to get him into serious hot water.
Either way, if a single four letter word left his mouth that night, the Knicks owner definitely heard it and will have something to say about it.
