Jay-Z, who was gifted with a private airplane for Father’s Day by wife Beyonce, is facing a lawsuit for allegedly plagiarizing his best-selling book “Decoded.”
Per Amazon, the entry for the book states: “Decoded is a book like no other: a collection of lyrics and their meanings that together tell the story of a culture, an art form, a moment in history, and one of the most provocative and successful artists of our time.”
Supposedly these meanings were deciphered from Jay Z, but Patrick White filed a lawsuit June 13 in Los Angeles citing that the “Watch The Throne” rapper used portions of his writing as his own and is seeking unspecified damages for copyright infringement and invasion of property.
“In 2009, my personal computer was compromised, resulting in my personal work to be used in Jay-Z’s book ‘Decoded’ which was released in 2010,” White claims in the handwritten lawsuit.
“The book contains various expressions/colors/phrases which correlate to my work,” White continued. “After contacting or attempting to contact the co-author, I got no reply.”
According to Allhiphop.com, White is also included author Dream Hampton and Random House Publishing in the lawsuit seeking unspecified damages.
