With J Lo’s wardrobe malfunction behind her she switched up her commonplace feminine frocks for padded-leather boxing gear on the new cover of V Magazine.
“I’ve always felt like a tough girl from the Bronx, but I have a soft core,” Jennifer Lopez said. “I can take a lot of punches and still keep going. I’ve been trained like a boxer to go 15 rounds.”
The 42-year-old shows off her fit body revealing a taut midriff and part of her boobies in her “Lady Is A Champ” spread shot by Mario Testino.
“I thought it was more graphic,” Lopez said of the jockstrap she opted for in lieu of traditional female gear for the cover. “It did make me feel stronger.”
The shoot was styled by former French Vogue editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld who also diverted from her usual Parisian glamour to style the gorgeous American Idol judge.
J.Lo talks about career highs and lows.
“You’re not going to hit the target or the bull’s-eye every time. That’s part of it,” Lopez tells V Magazine. “At the end of the day, I made those choices. I’ve been in the business now, I don’t want to say how many years. You have amazing moments of recognition and success. But at this point in my life, I try to take it all with a grain of salt.”
While she’s riding the waves, the “On The Floor” singer is aiming to have a hit reality show of her own with “Q’Viva The Chosen” who she co-hosts with estranged husband Marc Anthony. And speaking of which, how is that gig working out with the ex?
“I mean, we’re parents and friends first. That will be the thread that ties us together. I don’t know if people expect it to be negative just because the [intimate] relationship didn’t work out,” Lopez said. Further explaining their work dynamic, “We defer to Marc when it comes to musicians. When it comes to dance and showmanship, he defers to me.”
The V issue with the tough, unbreakable J. Lo hits newsstands on Thursday. What do you think of her spread?
