Nick Cannon, whose health is becoming an alarming concern, is listening to his doctor’s orders of cutting back on his workload and has resolved to walk away from his morning show hosting gig, “Rolling With Nick Cannon” at WXRK (92.3 FM), a popular New York City radio show.
“Under doctors’ orders, I have been asked to put my health first and cut back on some of my professional commitments in order to allow my body to get the rest that it needs to keep up with the demands of my multi-tasking schedule,” Cannon said in a statement Friday. “Even Superman has to sleep.”
“We have nothing but respect and understanding for Nick’s decision to step down from his day-to-day position. Everyone at the station and all of the CBS Radio family wish him well,” according to a released statement by the radio station.
Last December, Cannon was rushed to the hospital as he and wife Mariah Carey were vacationing with their twins, Moroccan and Monroe, in Aspen for a reported diagnosis of acute renal failure. He was released after further treatments in Los Angeles, California and surprised the audience at the BET Honors a week later.
Nick provided further details on his unexpected decision when he tweeted this morning, “The Doctors found blood clots in my lungs and said if I don’t slow down and stop working so hard then it’s a wrap!” Doctors also discovered an enlarged ventricle in Nick’s heart and said that his immune system is attacking his organs because of the constant traveling which is only making it worse.
On Wednesday’s show after a two day absence, Nick said, “It’s my first day back since Friday, and not many people have known this but, uh … I’ve been in the hospital since Friday. I was having a lot of pain in my back. “
The 31-year-old will continue with his “American Got Talent” hosting duties and says he will continue to host the syndicated “Cannon’s Countdown.
Health first Nick! Take care of yourself.
