Janet Jackson Shrewd About Joining X Factor

Janet Jackson was poignantly shrewd on the Anderson Cooper show on Monday when the host asked the performer if she was indeed a contender for the X Factor show as a judge.

“Oh, my God,” the 45-year-old mustered in between spurts of nervous laughter and gibberish, seemingly caught off guard. “No I’m not a judge on The X Factor.”

Just a week prior, reports were swarming that Whitney Houston was a consideration for one of the two vacant judging seats at X Factor before the untimely death of the superstar. Now the “Control” singer-performer’s name has entered the fray.

Anderson wouldn’t let the “Anytime, Anywhere” singer off that easily—he pried harder.

“You’re not currently a judge on The X Factor?”

“No, I am not,” said Jackson. “But that’s all I really think I should say.”

We think that’s pretty much code for “I’m under a contractual agreement to not talk about my new gig.” LOL!

Why would Simon Cowell want the soft-spoken Miss Jackson?

Simon has previously said that someone experienced in the music business is necessary and their level of success, in terms of the number of units they have moved, could be critical in spotting potential X Factor talent.

Last month, executives along with Simon, axed veteran judge Paula Abdul, newcomer judge Nicole Scherzinger, and host Steve Jones after the trio weren’t bringing in enough ratings for the show.

Do you think Janet would be a great addition to X Factor?
