Legendary rapper Nas home burglarized while the rapper was partying hard in NYC over the weekend in honor of the release of his latest album “King’s Disease III,” but according to multiple reports, two burglars had their own celebration at the emcee’s California home as they took off with two bags of items.
The Break-In:
According to TMZ, which initially broke the news, two men reportedly made their way into the 49-year-old emcee’s Calabasas home after breaking through the rear door around 8:30 p.m. Pacific Time Saturday. The individuals caused considerable damage to the residence before fleeing with two bags worth of stuff.
The pair were spotted on a Ring camera system by the rapper’s team members, who called authorities. However, the suspects had already fled before the cops could arrive. The Los Angeles Police Department has since launched an investigation.
Celebrity Home Break-ins On the Rise:
Los Angeles’ upscale suburban areas have become a hotbed for thieves who’ve hit the homes of notable celebrities including Terrence J, Usher, Nicki Minaj, and rapper Tee Grizzley, whose L.A. home was broken into in September. Burglars made off with nearly $1 million in cash and jewelry.
The same month thieves visited the home of veteran comedian Arsenio Hall while the Hollywood star was still inside. It happened on Saturday, Sept. 17, around 11 a.m. when the “Coming to America” star heard noises coming from downstairs of his Los Angeles home. He noticed someone had broken the glass on his sliding door in an apparent attempt to get inside.
It had been the second time folks tried to steal from Hall’s home. According to L.A. police, two suspects broke a window at the back of the home a month earlier and entered the “Harlem Nights” actor’s house. Like before, the star was home, but luckily the intruder fled before taking anything.
In Nas’ case, it’s still unclear precisely what was taken, but police said once the emcee returns he can make a list of missing items to give officials a better view of what to look for in an attempt to return his possessions. The rapper has yet to speak on the matter.
