Talk over Phaedra Parks‘ controversial departure from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” has resurfaced once again, this time during a recent episode of Peacock’s “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girl Trip.”
Parks, who first joined the “RHOA” cast in 2010, was fired during the series’ ninth season in 2017, after she admitted to falsely concocting a story against her former co-star Kandi Burruss and her husband, Todd Tucker. The alleged rumor consisted of the couple wanting to drug and sexually assault Porsha Williams, another castmate.
The discussion came up after “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girl Trip” star Vicki Gunvalson tried to convince Parks to clear the air regarding her exit during an outing. At the time, the 48-year-old decided not to talk about the situation.
In a July 20 interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Parks disclosed why she didn’t address the incident. She told the outlet that the cast had previously talked about it and the network decided not to broadcast the conversation.
While mentioning there are two parts to the story, Parks said, “Well, actually we had spoke about it earlier, and so they chose not to air it. However, that was — and just to be very honest — that was, what now five-and-a-half, six years ago? And there’s two sides to that story.”
She added, “You only heard one and obviously they chose not to play the other side. And so it is what it is, but I’m living in the present. And I think people realize… the people that know, know, and most of the people knew and they still know.”
When asked if she feels the one moment may have tarnished her legacy on Bravo, Parks said, “I’ll say like this, it is what it is. I mean, people are going to like you and they’re going to believe whatever side they want to believe. And I think my record speaks for itself and not one day is going to obviously be my legacy. And that was some BS as I said then, and it’s still some BS and obviously I’m back in the Bravo family, so that speaks volumes, shall we say.”
As the interview shifted to Parks making a possible return to “RHOA,” the mother of two declined to pick up the peach again. She said, “No, I don’t want to pick up a peach. If I wanted a peach, I would have a peach pie, but that’s not, no, as I’ve made it very clear, that’s not what I want to do. No. I will be yachting. Let them continue to sail away on the Titanic.”
As Parks’ remarks circulated online, many bashed the reality star. A few criticized Parks for what they described as lying about another side to the story; others claimed she lacked accountability.
“Girl what other side you lied if that was the case you wouldn’t been stuck that day on the reunion when you had the chance to explain and you couldn’t cause you lied.”
“No accountability whatsoever.”
“She avoided the question because there’s nothing more to tell. She just wanted to create some mystery and suspense.”
“She lying, ain’t no other side or she would have been said it to clear her name, just admit you lied.”
“It’s the lack of accountability! Although it happened years ago just take ownership that’s all.”
