‘The Final Straw’:  D.L. Hughley Seemingly Calls for an End to Feud with Mo’Nique After Star Gets Personal

Academy Award-winning actress Mo’Nique isn’t backing down from her feud with King of Comedy D.L. Hughley. What started as an apparent miscommunication over flawed contract dealings has now unraveled into an outright war of words between the two industry peers.

“Tell me what part of what he said was funny?” the 54-year-old actress wrote alongside a clip of Hughley’s interview with host Jay Leno in 2007. In the video, the standup comedian appeared to agree with controversial radio show host Don Imus’ comments that the women on the Rutgers University basketball team were “nappy headed h–s.”

During his appearance on “The Tonight Show,” Hughley said, “They weren’t h–s, but it was some nappy-headed women on that team,” before adding, “them is some of the ugliest women I have ever seen in my life.”

“This is classic DL Hughley, cruel for no reason,” Mo’Nique wrote. “The only thing that I ask some black women is how do you protect a black man who not only won’t protect you, but he’ll recklessly attack you too!”

The post comes just days after Hughley’s oldest child Ryan Shepard called out the “Precious” star for bringing her mother and sister into her public dispute with her famous father.

Over the weekend, Mo’Nique reposted a radio interview featuring Hughley discussing challenges people had believing Bill Cosby could have committed sexual harassment and assault. Hughley talked about a personal battle believing that one of his friends molested his youngest daughter to drive his point home.

In her message, Shepard invited Mo’Nique on her dad’s radio show, “The D.L. Hughley Show,” for an in-person conversation about the decision to use that information, to which the actress agreed.

However, on Monday, June 6, the “Double Rush” star made it clear that he would no longer be addressing the discord between him and the actress.

“UNBREAKABLE – The final straw and the last breath I’ll waste on a monster so HEINOUS, they would try to open a wound and weaponize a young woman’s past personal trauma. That young woman happens to be my daughter, and it ends today,” Hughley wrote alongside a segment from his show where he also spoke on the topic.

On air, Hughley denied claims that a “man” touched his child and that it was a 13-year-old boy whom his daughter knew. The actor said he would never forgive himself for the way he handled the situation and “for not believing in her,” before slamming Mo’Nique for bringing up “sexual trauma in an argument that has nothing to do with what you’re talking about,” calling it “unconscionable.”

He continued, “I will never let you on my show–never. You will never talk to my children. I will never had anything to do with me. You do not exist. Maybe leaving my children out of your mouth will leave room for the food you love so much.” The actor declared he had had enough.

Mo’Nique has yet to respond.

Fans chimed in on the ongoing feud.

“This is exhausting.”

“Mo was wrong very foul for that ! Disappointed in her “#4Real””

“This whole situation is a episode of Snaps.”
