‘Get Some Help Ma’am’: D.L. Hughley’s Daughter Invites Mo’Nique to an ‘In Person’ Discussion After the Comedian Makes ‘Mean’ Comments About Their Family, Mo’Nique Accepts Invite

D.L. Hughley and Mo’Nique‘s ongoing feud has become a bit more personal.

On June 4, Hughley’s oldest daughter Ryan Shepard slammed Mo’Nique for the Academy Award-winning actress’s remarks towards her mother and sister. Hughley and Mo’Nique are currently at odds after she accused the comedian of removing her as the headlining act of a comedy show she did in Detroit at the Fox Theatre last week.

During the feud, Mo’Nique issued some crude gibes about Hughley’s wife LaDonna Hughley while on stage and took it a step further by uploading a past clip of Hughley explaining why he didn’t believe his daughter was sexually assaulted by one of his close friends.

In the Instagram post shared on Hughley’s account, Shepard expressed the reason why she addressed the situation is because she felt Mo’Nique stepped out of line.

She wrote, “Hi @therealmoworldwide, I’m Ryan Nicole Shepard (D.L. Hughley and LaDonna Hughley’s eldest daughter). You’ve now publicly disrespected my mother -who I love and care for very much- and my baby sister -who I love and care for very much to get back at my father- who I love, respect, and care for very much. At this point, I feel like you are asking my family and myself to act out of character.”

Shepard continued the lengthy post by stating that Mo’Nique’s decision to include her mother and sister in the “Precious” star’s beef with Hughley showcases the lack of “mental stability, dignity, morality, and respect” the comedian has.

“Out of all the things you could’ve legitimately said about my dad, if that’s the route you want to take, you chose to be deliberately mean and hurtful to two Black women who have nothing to do with this conversation. Using my mama and my sister to show people my father’s character only shows how little mental stability, dignity, morality, and respect you have not only for yourself but other Black women.”

Shepard goes on to claim that the 54-year-old’s actions are “adding to the historical and systematic disrespect and trauma of other Black women.”

Shepard also praised her parents for raising them to have a “moral compass,” unlike Mo’Nique. She closed the caption by suggesting that Mo’Nique get some help and informed the actress that her family would continue to strive.

While extending a personal invite to hash out the issues Mo’Nique has, Shepard said, “We Hughleys are going to have a good a– day and a blessed life. We are healed. We are whole and we love each other fiercely and deeply. You can continue to live that scorched earth kingdom of yours. Get some help ma’am, Fa Real. Oh, and if you want to have this conversation in person, I’ll happily give you my address.”

One day following Shepard’s response, Mo’Nique accepted the invite by resharing the remarks on her page and writing, “@brownsugarandbourbon hey young sister, thank you for the invitation for a discussion. We would like to take you up on it. Because it could be very healing for our community. Have @realdlhughley set up a time for you, & your family & my husband & I to come on his show & we will go from there. I love us 4real.”
