Shaunie O’Neal is officially a wife again, and she’s dropping her last name after tying the knot with pastor Keion Henderson. According to People, the happy couple wed in a private ceremony Saturday, May 28 at the Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club. Gospel singer Yolanda Adams sang as Shaunie walked down the aisle to meet her husband and officiant Bishop T.D. Jakes.
The five children Shaunie shares with ex Shaquille O’Neal were among the 200 guests in attendance for the couple’s nuptials. Other attendees included “Basketball Wives” star Jackie Christie and Evelyn Lozada and the legendary Isley Brothers, who performed at the couple’s wedding reception.
“The Henderson Way,” Shaunie captioned a photo from their wedding day on Instagram. #SK11Eleven #meetthehendersons.”
According to the outlet, 11/Eleven holds a significant meaning — that isn’t disclosed — for Shaunie and Keion.
In honor of their union, Shaunie has removed O’Neal from her bio on Instagram, which now reads “Shaunie.” And it seems her friends are embracing the name change as well.
On Monday, May 30, the “Basketball Wives” star and executive producer shared screenshots of friends saving her name in their phones with the last name Henderson.
“Had to update the contact,” wrote former “Basketball Wives” star Lozada. Another person changed her name to say, “1st Lady Henderson,” to reflect her role as the first lady.
Shaunie Henderson also shared a video of the couple and friends on a rocky boat ride in Anguilla. “It feels amazing,” she said into the camera while a voice in the background mentioned getting on a boat. “I mean I don’t know if the boat is necessary,” she added.
The 47-year-old reality star appeared frazzled and nervous on the boat, moving closer and closer to her husband, who attempts to put her at ease.
“Mrs. Shaunie don’t like swimming,” Keion said, while holding back his laugh. “She can’t swim so she don’t like it.” He continued, “My baby. I talked my baby into it. We’ll hear about it in a minute.” Shaunie responded, “Yes, you are buddy.”
Keion later asked his wife, “Can you swim?” and she replied, “You know I can’t swim.”
Everyone made it safely on the boat to their destination, including Shaunie, who declared at the end, “I handled it like a champ.”
Shaunie and Keion were together for two years before announcing their engagement in November 2021. She was previously married to Shaquille O’Neal; they have been divorced for nearly 14 years. The former couple married in 2002, and finalized their divorce in 2011. Their split inspired Shaunie to create the VH1 series “Basketball Wives.”
Shaq took accountability for the mistakes he made in their failed marriage, including infidelity, among other issues last month on “The Pivot Podcast.” The NBA Hall of Famer said, “…I was bad. She was awesome. She really was. It was all me.”
He continued, “Look we don’t need to talk about what I was doing but I wasn’t protecting her and protecting those vows. Sometimes when you live that double life, you get caught up. So I’m not gonna say it was her; it was all me.”
