‘Overly Spoiled’: Cardi B Responds to Backlash for Buying 3-Year-Old Daughter $150,000 Necklace for Her Birthday

Cardi B took to Twitter on July 12 to defend her daughter Kulture Cephus’s birthday gift, a $150,000 necklace, after receiving backlash from many critics because of the price of the lavish present and the toddler’s age.

This initial post comes after the rapper, and her husband, Migos member Offset, celebrated Kulture’s third birthday by sharing a video of the toddler receiving the diamond charm necklace made by Elliot Eliantte, a clip that included intimate images from the tot’s “The Princess and the Frog”-themed party.

The 28-year-old responded to a now-deleted tweet by saying she spoils the 3-year-old because she wants Kulture to match “mommy & daddy[‘s] fly.” She wrote, “When your kid want ice cream for dinner do you give them ice cream for dinner? My baby is overly spoiled wit toys & super educated. If mommy & daddy fly then so is my kids. F**k I look like being fly a** f**k and my kid not.”

Twitter users got a closer look into the “WAP” lyricist’s stance after she replied to another tweet that questioned her post about wanting to live her “childhood dreams” through her children. Cardi’s initial tweet read, “Listen imma live my childhood dreams thru my kids.” The Twitter user then asked if she “openly and proudly” said this, to which the expectant mother responded, “Yes why not ? Princess parties ,unlimited toys , vacations and Pools my kid loves the pool and I went to the pool like 5 times in my childhood. Different flavor cereal not just Raisin Bran.”

This isn’t the first time the public has widely criticized Cardi’s parenting. Earlier this year, The “Be Careful” emcee caused a social media frenzy after she uploaded a video of herself doing an impromptu performance of her hit song “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion when her daughter walks in. The rapper is then seen abruptly turning off the music.

Following that clip, many people expressed that she was somewhat hypocritical because other kids can listen to what they deemed were vulgar lyrics. One individual wrote, “So ya daughter cant listen to it but everybody else’s daughter can?@iamcardib AW OKAY ! Exactly what I been saying you have an agenda to push with that trash ass label your with. DISGUSTING.”

Cardi quickly responded by saying, “Ya needs to stop with this already! I’m not jojosiwa! I don’t make music for kids I make music for adults. Parents are responsible on what their children listen too or see. I’m a very sexual person but not around my child just like every other parent should be.”

She followed up in an additional tweet, “There’s moms who are strippers. Pop p–sy, twerk all night for entertainment does that mean they do it around their kids? No! Stop making this a debate. Its pretty much common sense.”
