First-time mom Gabrielle Union is utterly obsessed with her daughter Kaavia James Wade despite it seeming like the 1-year-old is often over her mom’s shenanigans in videos and photos posted to social.
Union’s latest serving of mommy-daughter time was no different when the toddler, affectionately known as “Shady Baby,” kept a straight face during their backyard photo shoot. That is before the youngest Wade promptly got up and walked away as Union tried to smile the adorable abandonment away.
Union captioned the photos and brief video, “This kid @kaaviajames When she learns to really talk…maaaaannn.” Fans and followers amused by Shady Baby had a blast in the comments.
“You in trouble 😂😂😂😂” and “Why she always like that 😂,” read some comments.
“She look like she was about to go walk up on somebody 😆😆😆”

Over on Shady Baby’s social she shared a hilarious backstory to the photo shoot, “I was just minding my own business yall. I needed some ME time. Here she comes. All in the kool-aid trying to add agave.”
Union’s husband, former NBA player Dwyane Wade, revealed to People in October that his wife is the brains behind the toddler’s witty social posts that perfectly caption her moods.
“She’ll send me some of [the captions] before she puts them on and I’ll be dying laughing because it’s so on point, you know? So it’s cool,” said the three-time NBA Championship winner.
For years the couple expressed their desire to expand the family — Wade already had two children, Zaire and Zion (who is now known as Zaya), with ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches — as Union endured several IVF cycles and multiple miscarriages. She even detailed the emotional wreckage of holding out hope for her body to carry their child in her book “We’re Going to Need More Wine.”
“I’m so glad I got over myself and my fear of what people would think of me if I did not carry my own child,” Union said in an interview on “The Today Show.” “It’s OK to bring your child into the world in a way that is not through your body. The world will not consider you a failure. Every route to parenthood is perfect, worthwhile and amazing.”
