Longtime friend of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” Marlo Hampton has a checkered past, but recently the star decided to embrace it while reveling in her accomplishments, too.
On Tuesday, Hampton uploaded a series of photos to her Instagram page to show just how far she’s come from her days of arrests for things such as battery and felony possession of a firearm to emerging as a high-earning friend of a hit Bravo reality TV series (she’s said to be earning $275,000, the most of any friend of “RHOA”).
“Life has no remote, get up and change it for yourself💪🏾. #transformationtuesday 💰💰💰,” Hampton captioned the post, which indicates how she turned her life from one of crime to one of fulfillment.
Hampton’s Instagram comes after she was called out by “RHOA” cast member and peach holder Shamari DeVoe who retweeted a tweet from someone that had a collage of Hampton’s old mugshots. It included the caption, “Marlo calling somebody a fraud.”
It looks as if rather than running from her past, Hampton has chosen to embrace it and reflect on her achievements since then. Those accomplishments include earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida in 2003 and in 2011 founding the nonprofit Glam It Up, which mentors girls in foster care toward achieving their goals. The cause is near and dear to Hampton’s heart, as she grew up in foster care.
Fans took notice of Hampton’s post and applauded her for welcoming her past — highs, lows and all.
“Conquering life.”
“@marlohampton I can relate… I had to pick myself up after many bad choices and failures. Do not let anyone make you feel bad for what you been through and what you came through. You have come a long way. Pay these haters no mind. #Period… I am definitely cheering for you. You deserve it all.”
“Now! That’s, how you make Lemonade 🍋 🍋 🍋”
“Beauty and brains. So what because you been in trouble. People change EVERYDAY. I’m very proud of you Marlo👏😘”
“So you glowed up, love your swag and determination to succeed, keep up the great work!!”
“@marlohampton I love this post! Everyone messes up or makes mistakes but it’s a learning experience! We can admit it and grow up while others stay quiet and judge us but watch our whole life’s lol 😂😂😂”
